I remember watching Saving Private Ryan with my zero tolerance for violence. I almost left during the first 15 minutes. I often had to close my eyes so I could breathe. At the end the last two words impacted me deeply. We decided, even with the R rating, that our children needed to watch and understand what it meant to “deserve this.”

Times are difficult. These sorts of reminders helps me appreciate what I have, what we all have in this country. We are still free. We can still choose.

What an incredible gift we are still able to receive.
