Birthday Girl

by Pj in Random

wb19.jpg

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” by Marianne Williamson

Your presence in my life has liberated me. I celebrate your life today and everyday.

The Message

by Pj in Random

“I never cut class,” she told the girls, who were moved to tears. “I loved getting A’s. I liked being smart. I liked being on time. I liked getting my work done. I thought being smart was cooler than anything in the world.”

This quote is from a woman whose father was a Chicago water department pump operator. This is a message that this woman gives at every opportunity she is given. And she has requested that more of these opportunities are scheduled. She is dedicated to inspiring and educating young impressive minds that everyone can succeed. Every one.

We would not know or care except that this woman represents America as the first lady. We would not know her if she was not married to President Obama, but I believe we would not know him if he had not married Michelle.

Everyone can succeed. Every one.

Reality Check

by Pj in Family

cjpj.jpgThis girl needs a reality check! Or maybe she is using psychology. Kind of like, if you build it, they will come.

I just appreciate her kind thoughts and her willingness to develop her talents and SHARE them. As parents we are investing time, effort and money in our children’s future… for them! When they take advantage of these opportunities they really are expressing their love and appreciation. That makes the sacrifices worth everything.

The Work of Love

by Pj in Family

“Our destiny changes with our thought; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thought corresponds with our desire.” Marden, Orison Swett

“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.” Mother Teresa

“Our nature is obscured by work done by the compulsion of want or fear. The mother reveals herself in the service of her children, so our true freedom is not the freedom from action but freedom in action, which can only be attained in the work of love.” Rabindranath Tagore quotes

handprint-main_full.jpgEventually, people come to accept the evidence placed before them everyday. Those who truly love you, think about you, pay attention to you, because they want to. The obligatory gift, while appreciated is tarnished with the knowledge that it is compulsory. A true gift, always desired, is enhanced with the intent and thought and effort placed in the creation of the gift. I suppose that is why the home made gifts from my children continue to be a source of pleasure. They were given by those who put time, effort and thought into them. They paid attention and it showed in their choice of gift and in their expenditure of thought, time and effort. Those gifts were not just a gift to me, but a gift to themselves. It showcased the charity in their hearts. Nothing can be lovelier then a child reflecting back the devotion of a parent.

They were and always will be works of love.

Pain in the Neck

by Pj in Film Production

neckpain.jpg Have I mentioned before how much I love editing? Just in case anyone is confused…. I love editing. I am half way through reviewing like 50 hours of footage for one of these current projects. Some of the footage I am seeing for the first time. I found myself laughing out loud on a 4 second clip. Robby, you were tooooo funny!

I am glad that we put this footage away for a while because seeing it through seasoned eyes gives it an entirely different perspective! Unfortunately, my neck is burning big time. It happens when I edit, read, write, swim. I know… I am a pain in the neck!

All I know is I am happy when I edit. I love the creative process.

Wheels on the Bus

by Pj in Random

wheels21.jpg

These times are teaching all of us…. Again. College students are home and unable to find work. Grown men and women are applying for work that was traditionally for teen-agers. Nothing like having to use grammatically correct verb-age to order your burger from your child’s English teacher or having the water park life guards try to hold in their 40 year old pooch! The wheels on the bus go round and round….

“A smart man learns from his own mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others.”

When will we be wise? In the mean time…anyone out there need a college student to work during the summer? She is pleasant, funny, smart, bi-lingual and cute. Doesn’t have a college degree yet, but is willing to flip burgers and/or has a VERY tiny waist. No pooch yet!

This is called networking. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Like it?

Man Is That He Might Have…

by Pj in Random

bucket.jpgFor our “Monday Night Discussion,” I choose to explore the idea of time management. So I gave everyone 2 minutes to write not 100, but 10 items to put on their bucket list. That would be a list, for non-movie goers, of things you want to do before you die. Most did not finish the list in 2 minutes, which supported many mini concepts. AnyWAYS, (effort to bug Ben) I quickly addressed the concept of JOY and what the heck are we doing right now to make those plans happen. Then in keeping with the idea of time is valuable I said, the end. They all looked at me like…. Really? THEY wanted everyone to share. “But wait” I said, “I thought you were all in a hurry to get back to your video game, movie night, cat nap, texting, facebooking and all those time robbing, soul stealing, depressing induced activities?” “No, lets share.” Chris’ by far were the funniest as usual. I don’t know if I got the point across because I myself am in a mid life frenzy and…. someone is texting me. The end.

Coming and Going

by Pj in Family

wisben.jpg Wistie is home! YEA! I think she feels discombobulated. I remember how that feels. You know you are different, but everyone still treats you the same and you want to scream and say, “I’m not the same little girl any more,” but you don’t and then you find yourself regressing back to what “you think” everyone is more comfortable with you being. I would like to say I am comfortable with her being just who she is. I think she is pretty wonderful.

saacben.jpg What I notice is there is a lot more rough housing going on… last time I ended up in the emergency room with stitches in my head. So I am always a little nervous. Fool around long enough and someone or something will get hurt!

sandnote.jpgCiera is coming home tonight. She has been gone since Wednesday on a choir trip to Disneyland! How cool is that?! I think she missed us. It felt really odd not having that little munch-kin jabbering away. She sent us this lovely gift she made herself. Sometimes kids are the best thing ever!
